well i finally made the plunge and bought this iphone app i’ve been lusting over for the past few months. after fixing the glitch with my account, but not before camera bag lite was removed, i bought the camera bag app. for those of you who haven’t purchased this $1.99 (the most i’ve spent on an app yet) application, it basically applies different filters to photos you take or have taken. see here, this is the helga filter on a picture i took today at lunch:

and just as an aside, today we tried pagoda in williamsburg and i have to say it was pretty darn good. they have daily lunch specials and i will tell you right here and now that i am going back on sunday. have you clicked on the link there? have you seen that it’s pineapple chicken? need i say more?!? anywho, the portions were really huge for lunch and the flavor was really good and in short i think i’ve found a thai place in the area that i like. after leaving brookline and dok bua i’ve been searching nyc for a good thai place and i think i’ve found it, but how did this post turn into a food post? what was i talking about? did i black out? oh yeah, pictures, here’s some more:

and another:

well, in the words of forrest gump, “that’s all i have to say about that”.
well, the other night i was feeling the craft itch and i knew just which craft to scratch. i was reading on the glamourai’s blog about how to make bib necklaces and fancied a challenge. i’m not one to wear much jewelry but have been wanting to change that. ANYWAYS i rummaged through my jewelry drawer and pulled out this:

groovy
it’s a long chain i got a while back and have worn with a few things but was never thrilled with it. this would be the first necklace to get hacked (by the way, i have never chopped apart a necklace before and the experience was kind of exhilarating!). anywho, i had gone to beacon’s closet earlier to hunt for the perfect sweater but alas only came home with these necklaces:

beacon's beauties
they are great on their own, but i probably wouldn’t wear just them. so i got out jeremy’s trusty cutty things (jer, i’m still not sure what they are called…wire cutters? something?) and started snipping the links. this proved kind of tricky because they are all interconnected…

snip snip snip
but i snipped, and draped and lined them all up to see how it would look once they were all hanging:

stacked
now, it’s been coming to my attention more and more that i am somewhat of a perfectionist. and here, in the picture above, everything is draped perfectly. however, i think i bungled up the stitching part because when i was finished they didn’t line up as perfectly as they did here. but alas, i grabbed some ribbon i had laying around from a present sarah gave me and stitched as best i could and TA-DA:

le bib
i think it looks pretty bitchin for something i made by hand, but i’d like to do another now that i have the hang of it.
hi internets..ets…ets…ets…
so i haven’t written in a while, hence the echo. but, now i am so, rejoice! just jotting down a couple quick thoughts about what’s going on. i stumbled across this really cool website called weardrobe.com the other day:
basically it’s one giant sharefest where people take pictures of themselves wearing their clothes in different combinations and then tag them so *you* can search them and see new and different ways to wear the VERY same thing that’s hanging in your closet…right now! (holy run-on sentence batman) it’s a really big source of inspiration for me, someone who kind of fell out of love with clothes, and yes, i signed up for it. a part of me thinks it’s a little narcissistic, but then the other parts just yell “shut up! this is fun!” so, i’m gonna try to put a picture up each week of me trying out new or old combinations of my threads.
enjoy ![]()
so, cue the A&E Intervention music (catch it on youtube if you can, they have most episodes on there), but i think i’m addicted to the internet. if that last sentence doesn’t convince you, how about the stupid amount of hours i spend each day surfing sites for godknowswhat.
i’ve never kept track of the hours i spend online, but in an average day you can bet i spend at least a half hour on the following sites: apartmenttherapy, design*sponge, dooce, twitter, facebook, decor8, rarebirdfinds, failblog, fark and the numerous sites it points to. there are also a bunch of other sites that i will check in on periodically and are too many to mention. my point being: i know how to surf. i use to use stumbleupon to find new sites, but quickly became overwhelmed because my roster of daily websites (dailies as jeremy affectionately calls it) made the extra surfing too much. did that sentence make sense? i hope so.
this problem only got worse when i got the iphone. now, with the help of AT&T internet wherever i go, i am ensured full internet coverage. while it has helped me out in many a jam (navigating manhattan from the east village to the bronx in 50 mins in a 17′ uhaul, CHUMPS!) some people have started to get annoyed at the amount of websurfery in their presence. it’s like a tic now. i thought it would alleviate some of the surfing i did at home, but it only made the number of sites that i surf larger.
i wish i knew how to stop, but there is such a wealth of knowledge out there and there are so many entertaining sites that i don’t think i can. i rationalize with myself that because i don’t watch tv this is okay; is it? (was that the proper use of a semi-colon?) it is where i get a lot of my inspiration but also distracts me from a lot of the productive stuff i need to do in my day.
sigh.
internet, i love you!
yesterday was a long day. all i wanted to do after it was done at 2pm was zombie walk back to brooklyn and pass out. but who should meet me as i was walking out the door with a bouqet of flowers but my bearded one! it seems like when you’re that tired all your emotions are lying just below the surface, and i didn’t know whether to cry or laugh. anyways, i came home and put them in the lovely ball jar jeremy’s mother gave to me for christmas. and today, as i was sitting here with the 60 degree weather drifting in i had a little photoshoot. as ususal, the cats helped
thanks for reading.
so i got to thinking today, as i took my glasses off to clean them for the millionth time and noticed the myriad scratches on them that it might be time to switch up the ol’ framerinos. and i think i have a winner:
watch them in action here:
or maybe #2 in this little montage…but i do love a black frame…
